Okay, let’s talk about that wedding. The one that makes us want to pack up our cameras, buy a one-way ticket to Madrid, and pretend like I’m living my best life in the Spanish sunshine, eating all the tapas and taking photos of people who really know how to have fun. Yep, that wedding.

Dannie (from the US but with Dominican roots) and Davoe (from Venezuela, the land of empanadas and arepas) decided to tie the knot in Madrid—the very city where their love story began and, let’s be real, the city where the best late-night churros live. This was one of those weddings that made me feel like I was watching a movie unfold in front of me, but like, with better food and cooler people.

Morning Prep

We started with their morning preparations. I met Dannie at her Airbnb, which had this stunning balcony overlooking the charming streets of Madrid. I mean, the view alone was enough to make me want to move in. Dannie was so chill as she got ready, enjoying the sunshine and the energy of the city below. Meanwhile, Josh met Davoe at his Airbnb across town, where he took some photos on a spacious terrace. The light was perfect, and Davoe was stoked the day was finally here. (He kept calling Josh 'J-Money' which we still quote to this day.😂)

First Look & Private Vows

We kicked things off with their first look in Retiro Park, which, if you’ve never been, is basically the garden of all gardens. Picture this: lush greenery everywhere, the sweet smell of flowers in the air, and the sound of distant Spanish chatter mixed with the soft clinks of bicycle bells. Oh, and the fountains—chef’s kiss. I’m talking about the kind of dreamy, cinematic backdrop where you’re like, “Is this real? Am I on set for a rom-com?” Spoiler alert: it was real, and Dannie looked absolutely stunning. Davoe couldn’t take his eyes off her. I think he’d forgotten we were there. Which was good because we were filming them as they exchanged vows. 😉

Family Portraits Followed by Burgers

D & D opted for family portraits before their ceremony so that they could relax knowing all the family chaos was done, which of course we were totally game for! After we wrapped up some family photos (and somehow managed to get through everyone despite not speaking much Spanish), we made the executive decision to hit Five Guys for a snack. Yes, that’s right, Five Guys—because nothing says “we’re super chill” like a quick burger break in between a first look and a wedding ceremony. Honestly, I’m all about it.

Bel Mondo

Then it was off to Bel Mondo for the ceremony. Now, let me tell you about Bel Mondo. It’s like stepping into a stylish, slightly mismatched (in a nice way), vintage wonderland. Picture tiger statues, walls painted a cheeky shade of pink, and eclectic posters that made me wonder if I’d accidentally stumbled into an art gallery-slash-cocktail bar. If that’s not a vibe, I don’t know what is.

The ceremony was heartfelt, with D&D exchanging official vows in front of their friends and family after a talk by a family friend base on their religious beliefs on marriage. Dannie was walked down the aisle by her mama. So sweet and relaxed which was exactly

these guys to a tee.

But let’s talk about the food. Oh my word. First off, the five-course meal was a whole experience in itself. We’re talking starters that hit all the right notes, followed by carne (yes, I’m using the word carne like a true foodie), some kind of Italian charcuterie situation that I could not stop eating, pasta that got tossed in a massive wheel of cheese, and dessert that made me want to kiss the chef. This was next level.

The After Party

And then, the party. Oh boy, let me tell you, these guys' family knows how to throw down. From salsa to merengue to whatever spontaneous dance moves they decided were acceptable that night, it was a full-on fiesta. I think even the chairs were dancing. At this point, I was trying to sneak a few shots of Dannie and Davoe around the restaurant because they told me they wanted a moment alone. And by “moment alone,” I mean, they were like, “Let’s have a little quiet while Beanie stalks us for a few more photos." Perfection. Who knew stalking a couple around a restaurant could be such a sweet way to give them a second to themselves?

All in all, this wedding was everything you could ever want in a celebration: love, laughter, food, dancing, and a little bit of sneaky photo magic. To Dannie and Davoe, thank you for letting us be a part of your incredible day. Madrid will forever be one of my favorite wedding destinations—and not just because of the Five Guys stop (but let’s be real, that helped). Here's to more love, more food, and more weddings that make me feel like the luckiest photographer on the planet.
